Aim
This conference aims at serving as a forum for the presentation and discussion on cherry-tomato cultivation and the technology and promotion issues related to this up and coming product.
Santorini is the most appropriate location for hosting this conference, as besides being one of the most beautiful and unique places in the world, the cherry-tomato ("tomataki" to the local people) has long been produced on this volcanic island. Tomato paste production from this "tomataki", and wine making, constituted the base of Santorini’s economy in the nineteenth century and for the first seventy years of the twentieth century. Today the "tomataki" is still an important ingredient in Santorini’s cuisine during the months of June, July and August when it is in season on the island.
The organizers of the "Cherry-tomato Santorini 2nd International Conference" invite scholars and practitioners from all related fields to share their knowledge, views and opinions and to enjoy the rich social program of the conference in the perfect setting... the famous island of Santorini.
